Oct 29th RBC Day of Action Event - Vancouver

Friday Oct 29, 4pm

RBC

1025 W Georgia St , Vancouver

Hosted by: Anna Brookes

Global Action Alert - October 29th, join us in calling on RBC to defund climate chaos.

Come join us at the RBC royal centre at 4:00 pm!

Together we will rally up, listen to speakers, and play a screening of Invasion and videos from the Gidimt'en checkpoint against the RBC building. Divestment worked for us at UBC, we'll make it work again!

Don't miss an inflatable David McKay, CEO of RBC, receiving awards for his funding of climate destruction

RBC is fanning the fires of the climate crisis. Every year they funnel billions into the fossil fuel industry, including new expansion projects like Line 3 and Coastal Gas Link. Right now, Wet’suwet’en Land Defenders from the Gidimt’en Checkpoint are facing violence from RCMP, as TC Energy works to construct CGL across their unceded land, endangering the land that sustains them and culturally significant sites.

These projects will lead to more climate devastation in the coming years. They will mean more wildfires, more heatwaves, and more floods, all sponsored by RBC. This threatens our collective future, and current and future generations.

On November 1st, the UN climate conference in Glasgow (COP26) will begin, with a focus on climate finance. This provides us with a crucial opportunity to pressure RBC into ceasing fossil fuel investment and respecting Indigenous rights.

Join us on October 29th, calling on RBC to #DefundClimateChaos. #RBCIsKillingMe #DefundClimateChaos

“RBC is Killing Me” Key messages:
1. RBC is putting Indigendous and BIPOC lives in danger, by funding colonial violence
2. RBC threatens youth futures by continuing to finance new expansion

Our Demands:
1. End financing for fossil fuels - no new expansion
2. Respect and uphold FPIC
3. Defund Coastal Gas Link

Accessibility Information for the event: The event is next to Skytrain station. The pavement is flat with some construction nearby and there's a nearby indoor area with a food court, washrooms, and water. Please message us if you would like ASL interpretation.
