Jobandeep Singh Sandhu came to Canada as an international student in 2015. Like any International student, any migrant he had a dream to live and work here. But he wasn’t able to afford the high fees that international students are forced to pay. He had a choice either to stop studying or work harder to support his education and his dreams. He chose the latter.

In December 2017, he was racially profiled and arrested for working more than 20 hours.

Now he is being deported for working hard. This is the same mistreatment thousands of migrants face.

In a last ditch attempt to stay in the country, Jobandeep applied for a Temporary Resident Permit. This is a permit that the Minister of Immigration can easily grant. But it has been on hold. Jobandeep has to leave the country by June 15th!

We need to act fast. Will you call Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen and ask them to grant Jobandeep Singh a temporary resident permit and ensure status on landing for all migrants?

You can use the following talking points while on the call:
  • I am calling on your government to grant Jobandeep Singh his temporary resident permit and ensure permanent immigration status on arrival for all migrants.

  • It is unfair and unjust that migrants and students come to Canada on temporary permits, with restrictions on their ability to work and live here.

  • Over 40,000 people signed this petition in just two days because there are thousands of people who understand that what Jobandeep and other students face is unjust. Do the right thing, stop Jobandeep’s deportation and ensure fairness for all migrants
