In the Federal Budget for 2024, the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) had a line item — but it was criminally underfunded.
The disability community has said that a well-funded CDB needs to be our hill to die on. That’s all of us — not just those already living with disabilities. And with the 2024 Budget not yet finalized, there’s still time to demand Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland fund the CDB properly.
But to get to Freeland, we need to put our message where she can see it. Our plan is to fund a billboard van that would drive in front of Parliament Hill, letting Freeland and her colleagues know that $6.60 a day is not enough to live on.
