We’re heartened to hear of your commitment to put partisanship aside and work together in the coming years to make progress on key issues for people across Canada.

We live in unprecedented times. More and more of us are feeling anxious, finding it tougher to pay the bills or keep a roof over our heads. Meanwhile, the climate crisis is on our doorstep and the ever-present threat of extreme climate events like wildfires, floods, and heatwaves continues to loom large.

That is why we urge you to use this moment of opportunity to make history—as previous collaborative governments have done in the past—and deliver truly game-changing policies and programs to provide the climate-safe and fair future we all need.

More specifically, we call on you to:

• Urgently progress a just transition that reduces emissions in line with the science, and leaves no one behind.
• This should involve massive public investment, infrastructure, and training programs to move to a fossil-free economy and ensure good jobs and a decent life for all; resourcing Indigenous and remote communities to lead their transitions; and ending all subsidies to the fossil fuel industry
• Provide a permanent, guaranteed liveable basic income
• To support families and communities to meet their needs through the climate crisis and beyond

We are living in the most critical decade of our lives in the fight for climate justice and equity. Please do not squander this opportunity: take action to put Canada on a path to a fairer and more sustainable future.
