COP (Conference of the Parties) is an annual summit created by the United Nations to tackle the climate crisis – but it’s now polluted with fossil fuel giants.1 This means the same companies causing the global catastrophe are influencing meetings that should be about phasing out their industry.

The UN is starting to feel the pressure – with the global movement for climate justice calling out this toxic influence and the media finally paying attention.2,3 So, together with organizations from around the world, we’re building an outcry so large we cannot be ignored through a global petition signed by the international public, hand delivered at the COP28 Summit in the United Arab Emirates.

Imagine a petition landing on the desk of the organizers signed by the public in numerous countries – we’ll be hard to ignore. Add your name to the petition now and let the UN know: there is no place for fossil fuel corporations in climate summits.

United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change

Steven Guilbeault, Canadian Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Co-facilitator for COP28

There is no place for fossil fuel corporations in climate summits. We urge the United Nations to ban fossil fuel corporations and their lobbyists from participating in climate summits – so negotiations can focus on a fast, fair shift away from fossil fuels to protect people and the planet.
