Here's the open letter:

Dear Senators:

We are writing to you to ask you to pass Bill C-22, and the Canada Disability Benefit now, without unnecessary delay.

We believe in a Canada where everyone has what they need to live with dignity. However, for too many people in the disability community, this isn’t the reality. People with disabilities are twice as likely to live in poverty and makeup 41% of the low-income population in Canada. It’s unacceptable.

This bill has been on a long journey, and we appreciate the consideration you are bringing to the process. We believe that with strong cross-party support in the House of Commons, and polling showing 89% of Canadians support swift measures to put an end to poverty among people with disabilities, the time the pass the bill is now.

People with disabilities should not wait any longer for the crucial financial support Bill C-22 will provide. Please act to pass it swiftly.
